About WeDidIt
WeDidIt.in is an NGO that is all about getting young people in India involved in volunteering by encouraging the youth to step up, give back, and make a difference in their communities. Their goal is not just to get things done but also to build a generation of socially responsible and compassionate leaders.
They run different programs that make volunteering accessible and meaningful. Their clean-up drives along the Krishna River serves as a marvellous example. In this initiative volunteers roll up their sleeves, collect waste, and help keep the environment clean. Another initiative is one begun to support farmers, where people can spend time assisting with daily agricultural work, learning firsthand about the struggles of rural life. They also bring together sports lovers to help organize marathons and other fitness events, making community engagement fun and active. Even something as small as recycling used notebooks is encouraged, showing that small actions can add up in the fight against climate change.
What sets WeDidIt.in apart is that everyone involved is a volunteer—even the management. No one recieves a salary; they do it purely for the cause. The organization is also strictly neutral when it comes to politics, religion, or national biases—everyone is welcome, and everyone is treated equally. Their work has been duly and fittingly recognized. In 2021, the Economic Times honored them with the ‘Excellence in Social Entrepreneurship’ award for their impact.
For those who want to get involved but don’t have a lot of time, they offer the ‘3 Hour Hero’ program, where you can volunteer for just three hours and still make a difference. They also conduct free sessions in schools and colleges, inspiring students to take up volunteering early in life.
